Camon' Bud!

Everywhere you look you see the headline “All living presidents making All-Star appearance.” I must have seen the headline 15 times on virtually every website I’ve been to. Eventually, curious to see what all the hubbub was about, I clicked on one of the headlines. This is what the AP reports:
“All five living presidents will appear in a video shown before next week's All-Star Game.

Major League Baseball said Tuesday it's the first time every living president will participate in a ceremony at a sports event. President Barack Obama will then throw out the ceremonial first pitch before the game in St. Louis on July 14.

George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, George H.W. Bush and Jimmy Carter will recognize citizens being honored by baseball for their community service in the approximately seven-minute video.”
Big friggin’ deal! They are going to appear on video?

If they were going to show someone on tape, they should have Michael Jackson sing Take me out to the ball game, the National Anthem or God Bless America! I must have seen 5 Billy Mays commercials this past weekend. I know I saw a taped Farrah Fawcett interview.

Osama bin Laden puts out recorded video because he’s hiding. Are you trying to make it look like our Presidents are hiding? Whether you think some of them should in fact be hiding or not, that’s not the way we do things here in America. Show some class, get the guys together at the stadium and have them all walk out on the field holding hands. Let the world see us give them a 10 minute standing ovation (even if we don’t mean it.)

Memo to Bud Selig: When you screw up a wet dream for yourself, that’s your problem; but now you’ve created one for America. Baseball is the national past time. If you can’t get them all to show up in person then do something else we can all be proud of. Gee wiz, camon' Bud, get it right!
