Roto-Rx

The Doctor is in...

Question 1: What is the single best attribute to have in order to be a successful rotisserie baseball owner? Conversely, what is the biggest mistake that you see people make? – James, Oyster Bay, NY

James: The best fantasy owners are patient. They don't cut their sleeper picks two weeks into the season when they start off poorly. They trust their instincts and let the game unfold. Remember, it is a long season. Conversely, the biggest mistake that I have seen usually comes from people who panic. Just because a player isn't playing well today, doesn't mean that will continue tomorrow. Of course, good looks and a nice personality are helpful attributes too for what it is worth...

Question 2: If you had one offensive player to build your team around, who would it be? And one starting pitcher? - Sandy, Trenton, NJ

Sandy: Has Dr. Roto mentioned his serious man love for Albert Pujols? If I haven't let me share it with you... I LOVE PUJOLS!!! As for a pitcher, there are some good ones out there, but I think I will take Tim Lincecum. He is young, plays in a good park, throws strikeouts, and is only getting better.

Question 3: Would you trade K-Rod for another top closer? I’m thinking it’s 50-50 that the Mets go in the tank… - Margret, South Hadley, MA

Margaret: Who are you kidding Margaret? I bet that a women like you from Massachusetts can't bear having a New Yorker on her team. Seriously, Dr. Roto agrees with your assesement. KRod might look better on someone else's team in the second half if the Mets continue their slide.

Question 4: I’m going to dump and I’m looking for young pitching. Who would you consider the best young pitching talent to look for in keeper leagues? – Sid, Bristol, CT

Sid: If you are in Bristol, you should go to ESPN's parking lot and tell Peter Gammons that Dr. Roto says hello. He and I go way back. As for your pitchers, Dr. Roto likes Y. Gallardo, J. Johnson, C. Kershaw, and W. Rodriguez to name a few.

Question 5: Does Dr. Roto consider Magglio Ordonez “DONE?” – Michele, Booneville, MS

Michele: Dr. Roto has his fork out and is close to sticking it into Magglio. He has been somewhat lukewarm (I don't dare use the word hot) recently, but we are closing in on Done. Let's give him till August 1 before we pronounce him finished.
