Play the Phillies in the 2nd Half

With a win like Saturday’s and Raul’s return, is it time for the Phillies to start their torrid summer stretch? In the last two years, the Phillies got hot and ran wild in the end of the summer and played their best baseball.

Hamels wasn’t great in the 1st half and that would certainly help the team get rolling. Rollins hasn’t done squat in the 1st half but has showed signs of being his old self in the last two weeks. Ugly come from behind 12-10 wins like this have become a Phillies staple of this team, and after all the losing (at least for this team), I think it’s streak time.

But the essential element to the last two hot summers was Ryan Howard. He’s not even the best player on this team, but when he gets hot he carry the team by himself. A part of that is due to the fact that when Howard is on fire, he is unstoppable at the plate. With his game tying home run Saturday, Ryan Howard might be heating up. Whatever the case may be, if he Hulk-transforms into the Summer Monster he’s been the past two years… It’ll be time to go streaking.

The Phillies are 4 games in front at the break and they haven’t played well at all. The other teams have had their chance to put the Phillies away, they haven’t – the Phillies will now do it to them. It’s time.
