Always a bride’s maid, never a bride?

So the Houston Chronicle is reporting that Houston ace Roy Oswalt will not agree to any trade involving the White Sox. Oswalt has three years left on his contract and a no-trade clause. Wow, this is getting ugly. First Peavy turns them down, now Oswalt. Is a front line pitcher going to want to go there now knowing that the entire free world knows that he’s is their 3rd choice? Don’t think so. What's the expression? Always a bride’s maid, never a bride?

This is turning out much like when I asked the third girl I dated to marry me (and she knew the first two had already turned me down.) We’ll the 4th one eventually married me (we are married 39 years now) and unless she’s reading this she will never knew about the other 3. (You say anything and I’ll deny it.)

In order to get a stud at this point the White Sox are going to have to agree to re-do someone’s contract C.C. Sabathia-like. That doesn’t seem very smart, but they might not have any choice if they feel that’s what they need to make a push. - Paul Leume
