Well the Colorado Rockies who started off 18-28 and then changed managers, just pulled a Nigel Tufnel and went to 11.
The Rockies are 13-4 since Jim Tracy took over and 11-0 in their last 11. That matches the longest winning streak in MLB this year (Red Sox 11). They are starting to resemble the “Rocktober” World Series team of 2007 that finished up winning 20 of 21.
They are on a serious roll. Garrett Atkins even got 3 hits yesterday. Let’s take a look Inside The Numbers during the teams past 11 games.
Rockies outscored opponents 73-28
Rockies out homered opponents 14-7
Rockies outhit opponents .295 to .214
Rockies' starting pitchers: 10 victories, 2.49 ERA
Rockies' relief pitchers: one victory, five saves, 2.70 ERA
I can’t think of a slogan like the “Rocktober” one for June. It just doesn’t flow. We’ll just have to go with winning streak.
I wonder what Tufnel could do with an amplifier that went to 12? – Josh Bolan
