He’s 6-4, and 215 pounds. He runs like the wind (was reportedly faster than Jose Reyes while with the Mets) and is still physically maturing. If you have had him on your team the past two years and have expected Ricky Henderson-like stats you have been severely disappointed.
Carlos was the early season victim of a healthy, and more productive, Minnesota Twins outfield jam, and has now been given new life thanks to the injuries of Michael Cuddyer and Denard Span.
Despite his young age and unpolished skills, Carols now has more 877 MLB plate appearances. As stated above, he recently went through a stretch where he was the 4th outfielder and spent quite a lot of time on the bench. I think Carlos has now had both the playing time and the time to sit, watch and learn to utilize his skills to be a successful MLB player and a valuable rotisserie player.
Yesterday he hit a HR and stole his 5th base. I think now is the time to pounce on Carlos Gomez for your team. In whatever league you are in, I’m certain that he is out of favor and either on someone’s reserve roster or a free agent. I think Carlos will prove valuable for your team in the second half of the year and will end up being someone that you want to protect, because he should be able to be had on the cheap.
Your active roster in rotisserie baseball is all about what have you done for me lately. Your reserve roster should be filled with potential stars that grow into your active roster. I think this is the time for Carlos Gomez to be on your active roster. His previous stats don’t count; don’t let that affect your judgment. If you’ve watched any of the Twins games, you’ve seen him change the outcome of games with his athletic defensive play. He’s now ready to do the same on the offensive side of things, and in Rotisserie baseball, we get points for that. – James Morrison
Jim (no relation to the dead Door’s guy) is a self proclaimed rotisserie expert. Jim has been participating in an serious Ultra-Rotisserie league (you can protect some minor leaguers too) at $2,600 per team instead of $260 (similar to Ultimate Franchise Baseball ™) for the past 17 years and has finished in the money 14 times with 8 First place finishes and over $260,000 in total winnings over the 17 year period. While the world is full of institutions and people that come with disclaimers on how past performance is no guarantee of future results, Jim is brazen enough to claim that it will be in your best interest to follow his advice going forward. He’ll write it, we’ll publish it and we shall see………
