Lucky for us that we have a few readers that have the ability to let me know when I have no idea what the heck I’m talking about (and are polite enough to let me know in an informative way rather than telling me what a dufus I am.)
One of our astute readers, Ryan Morris from Manhattan, NY alerted me about an obscure MLB rule that I knew nothing about. It is the Pete Incaviglia Rule. The rule states the following………
A team cannot trade a drafted player until he has been under contract to the club for at least one year.
Officially known as Rule 3(b)(7), the ordinance is also commonly referred to as the Pete Incavagilia or Inky rule.
Thanks for the info Ryan. – David Fry
